Why is there a shortage of truckers in America?

There is an estimated 350,000 driver shortage. Much can be attributed to the aging population, the availability of local jobs, and the time away from home.
American drivers want to be closer to home, but the nature of long haul trucking is such that you don’t always get home as often as you like.

Is trucking for you?

Driving Big Rigs in the USA is a dream of many truckers world-wide. Truck driving across 48 states to deliver a load is a great way to see America and be paid for it.

The trucks are late model 2004 to 2007 updated regularly, have satellite communication and many have in-cab email. You keep your own truck unless it’s updated. You don’t swap trucks each trip.

The sleeper units are like bedrooms. Large, with either 2 bunk beds or a large single bed. There is cupboard space, space for a fridge, microwave, TV and your essentials. The truck stops have showers, wash machines and dryers. While you shower, your clothes can be going in the wash machine.

Many truck stops even have a hairdresser, TV rooms and good sit down restaurants for drivers. There are phones on the tables, so you can plan your loads while your waiting for your meal. Trucking American style is a life unto itself.

You may not go back to base for 3 weeks or even 3 months! Truck services are arranged while on the road, and you don't carry spare tires. If you get a blow-out; you call the tire service.

Trucking in America is a "clean" job....no more grease hands from repairs! The companies have systems set up for all occasions and you communicate with your employer via the in-cab satellite unit.

Now the door has been opened for you to work and live in the USA!
